Nenne's Introduction
My love towards aviation started at a really
young age and with a specific airplane. When I was about 5 years old I used to
live in China and to be able to go back and forth from Italy, where I am from,
I had to take the airplane. During one of my trips from Frankfurt to Shanghai I
flew with the Boeing747 and that was the day in which I fell in love with
airplanes and aviation itself. Seeing that gigantic machine flying across the
blue skies, with such elegancies, made me want to embark on the journey that
one day, hopefully, will bring me to be at the flight controls of a 747. From
that day, my life started to rotate around the biggest dream of my life, which
is to become a 747 pilot.
I am currently a Junior in the aviation
management program and I will graduate in December 2018. Also, if I am a
management student I am still earning my pilot certificates. I try to stay
active in the aviation community as much as possible in fact I am the treasurer
of Alpha Eta Rho, Sigma Chi. In addition to that I try to volunteer in many air
shows as possible and this will be my third year in a row going at the Oshkosh
airshow.
As of right now my future plans depend from me
receiving or not the green card which would allow me to stay and work here in
the United States. If I will receive the green card I would like to work for
Air Choice One to build hours for my ATP. Once I earn the ATP I will convert it
from FAA to EASA and apply for a job as a first officer at Cargolux. Cargolux is
a Cargo airline that flies only B747, and if I will get hired from them, my
lifelong dream would be finally realized. After flying as much as possible for
Cargolux and after upgrading to Captain I would like to retire from Emirates.
During the course of this class I would be interested in hearing from
one of the guest speakers talking about the air cargo industry topic. I am
saying this because I know that I want to fly for an air cargo airline but I am
still debating in which continent go to work in. I have a couple of friends in
Europe that are air cargo pilots and so I know how working in Europe is but I would
like to hear also how it is working in the United States as a cargo pilot. One
of the current topics that I would like to discuss during this class is
regarding the various path that a new commercial pilot has in order to achieve
the fatidic 1000 or 1500 hours in order to earn it’s ATP. The other current
topic that I would like to talk about is the bilateral agreement between EASA and FAA.
